Why it counts

Seven pairs instead of four sets and a pair. Four identical tiles count as two pairs. Familiar ground if you play 101 Okey, where collecting çift is the same instinct.

A house rule rather than standard Hong Kong. No tournament rulebook carries it, and the orthodox tables file it under 自訂 at three faan. Widely played, so we keep it and label it.
